This week at Southfield has been incredibly exciting - due to the amazing work by the BCSE we have had FOUR areas of the school made over in under seven days: a great achievement. As you know at Southfield we take pride in the amount that we do for ourselves: the new ICT suite, the revamping of the FS classrooms, the fantastic play equipment in the playgrounds (thanks to the SPSA) etc etc. However to quote our head teacher C Morris, 'We are condensing 5 years work into 5 days' with the help of the BCSE (British Council for School Environments) and all their partner companies.
In a nutshell (and in no particular order): - The new and improved attic space - completely made over, walls knocked down and the whole place redecorated so that we can use it as a drama suite, music room and who knows maybe even video editing.
- The Art room project - a new mezzanine, redecoration, interactive whiteboard, new thin-client computers and furniture.
- An outdoor classroom - revamping the entire pond/nature area, re-siting the pond and creating decking and seating so the children can enjoy this vital green space more often.
- Redecorating the Junior dining hall - amazing art work and canvases to make the dining area a more vibrant and pleasant eating space.

All this thanks to the BCSE and the Governing Body of Southfield Primary! |
